What is contained in Surat Al-Hadid?

This surah as a whole is a call to the Islamic group to realize in itself the truth of its faith. This is the truth by which souls are saved for the call of God. Do not think anything about it and do not hold anything without it, not souls, money, heartbeats, or women with breasts, and it is the reality by which souls become divine while living on earth. Its scales are the scales of God. And the values ​​that you cherish and race to are the values ​​that weigh heavily in these scales. It is also the truth that makes hearts feel the reality of God, so they are humbled by His remembrance. She trembles and flees from every obstacle and every attraction that prevents her from escaping to him.

On the basis of this fact, the surah calls the Islamic group to sacrifice in the way of God, to sacrifice oneself and give up money: “Believe in God and His Messenger, and spend from that which He made you rulers in” [Al-Hadid: 7].

And on the basis of this great truth, the Islamic group also calls for reverence for the remembrance of God and for the truth that God has revealed, so that sacrifice comes as a fruit for this reverence emanating from the first truth of faith: “Isn’t it time for those who believe that their hearts bow to the remembrance of God and what has been revealed of the truth” (Al-Hadid: 16).

Likewise, it places the values ​​of this world and the values ​​of the hereafter in the balance of truth, and calls upon the Islamic community to choose the weighting balance and race to the remaining values: “Know that the life of this world is play, amusement, adornment, and boasting among you, and a multiplicity of wealth and children” [Al-Hadid: 20].

It appears from the context of the surah - besides the generality of the permanent call to that truth - that it was also dealing with a situation that occurred in the Islamic community when this surah was revealed in civil society in the period extending from the fourth year of the Hijra until after the conquest of Mecca. In addition to the Muhajirun and the Ansar, who set the most wonderful example known to mankind in giving and sacrificing their lives and money, there was - in the Islamic group - another group that was not at this pure and lofty level of faith, especially after the conquest when people entered Islam in droves and among them were those who did not yet realize the truth The great faith did not live by it and for it, as lived that previous group, pure and sincere to God.
