Team OBS

The app is a tool to help clinicians, midwifes and researchers in obstetric care, to objectively assess teams’ clinical performance in both simulated and real-life scenarios. We hope this will stimulate and facilitate education and research in assessment of clinical team performance in both situations. This innovative approach provides unique opportunities to improve performance and enhance patient safety

The app can be used in the following situations:

1) In simulation training – a tool for education and feedback on multidisciplinary team performance in simulated clinical scenarios.

2) In real-life clinical scenarios:

a. to facilitate team performance review and debrief after real-life clinical events

b. to evaluate overall performance within departments over time

Based on results from own work assessing video recordings of emergency teams managing real-life PPH situations, we believe that live recording is a crucial step which allows a better understanding of team behaviour, and provides unique opportunities to improve education, clinical performance, and patient safety. Ongoing, repeated assessments are vital in order to develop optimum, highly effective performance within teams. By using the app to assess video recordings of real-life clinical scenarios, departments can objectively assess changes and improvement in team performance over time.
