Simple Audio Recorder

Simple Audio Recorder is a clean, privacy-respecting recorder built for people who want full control over their recordings — without ads, subscriptions, internet access, or data collection.

── Output formats

• WAV (PCM) — Uncompressed, bit-perfect audio. Files are large, but recording starts instantly with zero encoding overhead. Ideal for archiving, sound design, or music production where quality cannot be compromised.

• FLAC — Lossless compressed audio. Delivers the exact same bit-perfect studio quality as WAV, but actively compresses to roughly half the file size. Ideal for demanding users who want uncompromised audio quality while saving storage space.

• AAC (M4A) — High-quality compressed audio at a fraction of the file size. Supports sample rates from 8 kHz to 48 kHz. The app automatically probes your device’s hardware capabilities to unlock the highest supported bitrates. Ideal for everyday recording, music, and universal playback compatibility.

• OGG Opus — A modern, highly efficient open-source format. Delivers exceptional audio and voice clarity even at extremely low bitrates. Ideal for long lectures, podcasts, and voice notes where conserving space is your top priority.

── USB audio devices

Supports USB class-compliant audio interfaces alongside the built-in microphone. Select your input source before recording. If a USB device is disconnected mid-recording, the app automatically switches to the built-in microphone and continues — no data is lost.

── Recording settings

Configure output format, sample rate, bitrate, and mono/stereo channels before each recording. Options unsupported by your hardware or encoder are shown greyed out — you can never accidentally select a setting that will be silently ignored.

── Library and playback

Recordings are saved to Music/SimpleAudioRecorder, visible to any file manager or music player. The built-in library shows duration, file size, date, and format for each recording. Tap to play with seek controls; long-press for selection mode.

From the library you can:

• Play recordings with the built-in player

• Share via the standard Android share sheet

• Delete individually or in bulk, with a confirmation step

Recordings from a previous install remain visible after reinstalling — the app re-indexes the recording folder on startup.

── Privacy

Permissions requested:

• Microphone — to record audio, asked when you first tap Record

• Audio files — to show recordings from a previous install

No internet permission is declared. The app cannot make network connections, send analytics, display ads, or contact any server. Your recordings never leave your device unless you share them.
