The New International Version traces its origins to a modern translation project of the National Association of Evangelicals in the USA in 1957. In 1967, Biblica assumed responsibility for the project and hired a team of 15 experts from various evangelical Christian denominations and from various countries for the translation of the oldest manuscripts. The New Testament was published in 1973 by Zondervan in the United States, and the complete Bible in 1978.

A Spanish translation was published in 1999, followed by a Portuguese translation in 2001. As of 2013, the Nueva Versión Internacional is one of the most widespread versions of the Bible, with more than 450 million copies sold of its Spanish translation alone. English.
