Genshin Impact's 7.0 Special Program has aired, and Snezhnaya is finally within reach. Six years after the launch trailer first teased the Cryo nation, HoYoverse is opening the gates on August 12 with "Everwinter Without Mercy." This version adds the seventh major region, two new characters, a reworked Traveler element, and combat systems that reshape how Cryo teams work.
Genshin Impact 7.0 Release Date and Maintenance Schedule
The Genshin Impact 7.0 update goes live on August 12, 2026. Maintenance kicks off at 06:00 (UTC+8) and runs for roughly five hours. Servers should be back around 11:00 (UTC+8).

- US West Coast (PT): August 11, 3:00 PM start, back by ~8:00 PM
- US East Coast (ET): August 11, 6:00 PM start, back by ~11:00 PM

Standard compensation applies: 300 Primogems for downtime plus 300 for bug fixes. All Travelers at Adventure Rank 5 and above qualify. Pre-installation is already available on PC and mobile.
Genshin Impact 7.0 New Region: Snezhnaya
Snezhnaya is the seventh nation of Teyvat, a frozen continent built around an extensive railway network that connects scattered settlements across the ice. The central hub is Snezhnaya City, home to Fatui headquarters and the military-industrial core of the nation.
The map covers distinct zones: the urban sprawl of the capital, ancient glaciers where colossal beasts roam, remote villages guarded by frost spirits, and miles of frozen wilderness. A new exploration tool called the Grail's Eye handles cold resistance, summons trains, and creates "Primordial Ice Constructs" for traversal and puzzle-solving. It's genuinely useful. Not just a gimmick.
The Archon Quest picks up threads accumulating since version 1.0. The Tsaritsa's plan, the Fatui Harbingers' endgame, and the Traveler's collision course with Snezhnaya are all on the table now. Completing the new Archon Quest chapter rewards up to 560 Primogems.
Genshin Impact 7.0 New Characters
Three additions arrive in Version 7.0:
- Odette (5★, Cryo, Sword) is the marquee pull. She's a famous Snezhnayan ballerina who works as a Fatui operative on the side. In combat, she converts Superconduct and Swirl reactions triggered by the team into Stellar Superconduct and Stellar Swirl, boosting Stellar Glimmer reaction damage across the board. Her Skill and Burst both deal Cryo damage and summon a shadow clone that keeps attacking on its own. If you field her on-field, tapping her special Skill lets her dance alongside the shadow for sustained output. She scales as a sub-DPS/support hybrid for Stellar reaction teams. Her signature weapon is Whitelake Frostfeather (674 base ATK, 22.1% CRIT Rate).
- Alyosha (4★, Electro, Polearm) is the free-to-play anchor of 7.0. You get him directly through the Archon Quest. His Burst creates a field that deals persistent Electro damage, boosts the active character's ATK and Stellar Superconduct damage, and provides ongoing healing. Think of him as the Stellar Superconduct team's sustain core.
- Cryo Traveler (5★) unlocks by resonating with a Snezhnaya Statue of the Seven. This marks the first time the Traveler gets a dedicated 5★ signature weapon: the Exaiphanes Blade, earned through Archon Quest progression. Cryo Traveler enables Stellar Superconduct and Stellar Swirl just by being in the party, making them a budget enabler for the new reaction system.
Genshin Impact 7.0 Banner Schedule
Phase I (August 12 to roughly September 2):
- Odette plus Whitelake Frostfeather (new)
- Arlecchino plus Crimson Moon's Semblance (rerun)
- Alyosha (4★ rate-up)
Phase II (roughly September 2 to September 23):
- Phylens plus signature weapon (rerun)
- Ineve plus signature weapon (rerun)
If you're chasing meta value, Phase I has the most weight. Odette opens up the Stellar reaction archetype, Alyosha is free, and Arlecchino remains one of the strongest Pyro DPS options in the game. The Tsaritsa isn't arriving in 7.0. Leaks point to 7.3 or later for the Cryo Archon's playable debut.
New Combat System: Stellar Swirl and TPS Gameplay
The Stellar Glimmer reaction system introduced in the "Luna VIII" patches gets a real upgrade here. Stellar Swirl (Anemo plus Cryo) creates a vortex that can be upgraded in combat, stacking with Stellar Superconduct for layered Cryo team compositions. Odette and Cryo Traveler are built around this framework. Expect Cryo teams to look very different from the freeze and melt patterns you know.
Then there's the firearm addition. 7.0 introduces a third-person shooting mode with three new gun types and weapon attachments. It's not a full combat overhaul. It's a limited, context-specific mechanic tied to certain Snezhnaya encounters. Still, it's a notable shift from the sword-and-element loop that's defined Genshin Impact since day one.
Two new artifact sets also drop from the Snezhnaya domain, both focused on Stellar Glimmer interactions and designed to complement the Odette and Cryo Traveler kits arriving in this patch.
Should You Return for Genshin Impact 7.0?
Snezhnaya is what the 2020 launch trailer promised. Not a detour. Not filler. The region itself looks substantial: rail-connected cities, frozen wilderness, Fatui strongholds, and the payoff on plot threads that have been building since Mondstadt. The character lineup makes the new combat system accessible without demanding a full roster rebuild. Alyosha being free helps.
Returning players get quality-of-life improvements too. One-tap artifact enhancement, expanded inventory. Less friction before you even reach the snow.
