A 3D view of your multi-tilt radar apps
*********MULTI-TILT RADAR DATA FROM OTHER RADAR APPS IS REQUIRED**********
Finally! A radar related app that allows for 3d rendering of a cell taken from your favorite multi-tilt radar app (such as Radar Scope, or PYKL3).
Do to certain restraints, this is very basic and is also in its early stage of development. If you don't have access to radar images that allow you to see multiple tilt angles and/or you don't know how to take screenshots and crop them, DO NOT download this app. It will be useless to you. Also do not download this app unless you have a powerful device. I am pushing my device to its limits (Galaxy S5) with this and I'm sure it will push others as well. Please do not rate low if you download it and expect to see radar data, because you won't.
There's a few reasons its free, and the main reasons are
1. It can be difficult to use for the "un-advanced" users
2. It depends on apps that offer multiple tilts which usually cost money to get.
3. Some devices may struggle to run it smoothly or may not even run it at all.
4. I primarily made this for myself because there wasn't a app on the playstore that did full 3D volumetric renders. I figure I'd share it for anyone else that would want it. Expect regular updates as ill be working on it to make it better for me and everyone else.
Until I optimize it and add integrated radar, IT WILL STAY FREE AND AD FREE.
As it is now, it retrieves no radar data and will not display raw radar data. I am looking into integrating NEXRAD L2 or L3 data. I just need to find a site that gives that data out in the form of images. Or until I figure out how to process that data either in app or on my computer and then host a site to post that processed data.
Until then this is how you use it:
1. Take a reasonably zoomed out screenshot of the cell on tilt 1. Dont move the view around while doing so. The app depends on the images being fairly lined up.
2. Continue taking screenshots and moving the tilt up. Remember to not change the position over the cell and to not change zoom.
3. Go to your gallery or where ever pictures are stored and crop the image to the smallest crop size; centered on the cell. keep as consistent as possible when cropping. keep track of what image is what tilt *important*
4. Go into the app and tap "Pick Images". This will bring your gallery up. Find and select the tilt image that you cropped.
5. It will take you back and although nothing seemed to happen, something did. Press "Create Model". You should now see a 3D render of the first tilt. Repeat 4 and 5 for the rest of the tilts you have. The next renders(tilts) will automatically stack on each other.
notes:
*You may create bigger renders if you choose. Simply crop the screenshots to a bigger size than stated in step 3. Be aware, however, the bigger the image (or more tilts), the more power it takes to process and render. You may experience lagging and jittering if you try going to big in crop size.
*To change what reflectivity is seen you can tap on the Blue, Green, Yellow, Red toggle buttons. To change the zoom of the render, tap the + or - buttons.
*You must close the app to clear the render. This will be made a button later on.
*It does work with different products to a degree but it has not been implemented in code yet. Is in future plans.
