This application contains a list of days of military glory and memorable dates of Russia.

Days of Russian Military Glory (Glory Days of Russian arms) - Russian memorial days to commemorate the victory of the Russian troops, who played a crucial role in Russian history.

Russian commemorative dates were introduced in 2010 and celebrate other important events in the life of state and society, worthy of being immortalized in folk memory.

A list of those days was installed in February 1995, the law "On the days of military glory and memorable dates of Russia."

The law provides for the days of military glory celebrations in the armed forces, and on memorable dates - public events.

In addition, the law provides a number of other forms of perpetuating the memory of the soldiers: the creation of museums, monuments, exhibitions and publications in the media, assigning them the names of settlements, streets, military units and ships, preservation and arrangement of the territory associated with the feat.

In the Russian Federation establishes the following days of military glory of Russia (as amended on December 1, 2014):

January 27 - Day of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade (1944);

February 2 - Day of the defeat of the Soviet troops of Nazi troops in the Battle of Stalingrad (1943);

February 23 - the Day of Defender of the Fatherland;

April 18 - Day of a victory of Russian soldiers of Prince Aleksandra Nevskogo over German knights on Lake Peipus (Battle of the Ice); battle took place April 5, 1242;

May 9 - Day of Soviet Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 (1945);

July 7 - Day of the victory of Russian fleet over the Turkish fleet in the Chesma battle; battle took place on June 24-26 (July 5-7) in 1770;

July 10 - Day of the victory of the Russian army under the command of Peter the Great over the Swedes in the Battle of Poltava; It took place on June 27 (July 8), 1709;

August 9 - the first day in the history of Russian naval victory of the Russian fleet, under the command of Peter the Great over the Swedes at Cape Hanko; It took place on July 27 (August 7), 1714;

23 August - Day of the defeat of the Soviet troops of Nazi troops in the Battle of Kursk (1943);

8 September - Day of the battle of Borodino the Russian army under the command of M. I. Kutuzova with the French army; It took place on August 26 (September 7), 1812;

September 11 - Day of Victory of the Russian squadron under the command of F. F. Ushakova over the Turkish squadron at Cape Tendra; It occurred on August 28-29 (September 8-9) in 1790;

September 21 - Day of Victory Russian regiments, headed by Grand Duke Dmitriem Donskim over the Mongol-Tatar forces in the Battle of Kulikov; It happened September 8, 1380;

November 4 - Day of National Unity;

7 November - Day of the military parade on the Red Square in Moscow to mark the twenty-fourth anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution (1941);

December 1 - Day of Victory of the Russian squadron under the command of P. S. Nahimova over the Turkish squadron at cape Sinop; there were 18 (30) in November 1853;

December 5 - Day of the Soviet counteroffensive against the German fascist forces in the Battle of Moscow in 1941;

December 24 - Day of the Turkish fortress of Izmail by Russian troops under the command of A. V. Suvorova; there were 11 (22) December 1790.

Military history of Russia is a vivid chronicle of selfless struggle, which covered the Russian army unfading of the glory of the integrity and independence of their native land. The ordeal periods of particularly acute manifested patriotic consciousness of people. The spirit of the people have a decisive impact on the fighting efficiency of the Fatherland defenders. Alexander Nevsky, Dmitry Donskoy, Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky, Alexander Suvorov, Georgy Zhukov, and many other famous names and their works will remain forever in the people's memory. The history of Russia is rich in significant events. In all ages the heroism, courage Russian soldiers, the power and glory of Russian weapons were an integral part of the greatness of the Russian state.
