Religious chanting in our society is of great importance, as it is synonymous with guidance and the most extensive outlet for expressing what the souls rage in, and the spiritual nourishment that heals the chest and refines morals.

Oral heritage, such as religious songs and muwashahat, is the most vulnerable type of heritage to neglect and extinction if it is not documented and preserved for fear that it will become extinct or be buried in oblivion.

Religious chanting is a rap art that deals with topics that have a religious character, such as divine love, praise of the Messenger, or oneness and the supreme kingdom, and those with beautiful voices address it.

The Yemeni muwashshah is the reference for most, if not all, Arabic muwashshahs.

We do not find muwashshah in the Arab world except that it has a thread that intersects with the Yemeni muwashshah, its poets and composers, which is what has earned it great fame, in the past and in the present. devoid of muwashah or vocalist.

Books of literature and translations indicate that the life of the Yemeni muwashshah extends for a year, since since that date the poets of the muwashshah, composers and singers have emerged, and that the Yemeni muwashshah is the origin of the muwashshah in some Arab countries, where the migration of Yemenis and their participation in the conquests played a major role in the spread of the muwashshah and its arrival in Andalusia. .

And some historical references mention that most of Morocco’s heritage came from Yemen, due to the migrations after the rupture of the Ma’rib Dam, where most of the Yemeni tribes migrated to Arab countries, carrying with them all their heritage, art and culture, and among these families is the Al-Atab family in Morocco, which is related to muwashshah and chanting. .

The Yemeni muwashshah is characterized by local and international acceptance, although it is not accompanied by musical instruments, as its music stems from the throats of its vocalists, and the characteristics of the Yemeni muwashshah lie in that most of it includes remembrance, spinning in the divine, and calling for the purity of the human soul, so it quickly becomes attached to the conscience.

UNESCO's earlier recognition of Yemen's reciting heritage as an oral world heritage, and the serious efforts to preserve it, are an outstanding sign of the value it represents in world heritage.
