Rain is liquid water in the form of droplets that has been condensed from water vapor in the atmosphere and then precipitated with it, that is, becoming heavy enough to fall under the action of gravity. Rain is a major component of the water cycle and is responsible for most of the freshwater deposits on Earth. It provides suitable conditions for many types of ecosystems, as well as water for hydroelectric power plants and crop irrigation.
