This poem (Al-Kafiya al-Shafiyyah fi al-Intisar li al-Firqat al-Najiyyah) was composed by Ibn Qayyim, may God have mercy on him, in six thousand verses. Sheikh Ibn Sa'di, may God have mercy on him, said about this book by Ibn Qayyim:

"It is peerless in its comprehensiveness of the fundamentals of religion and its refutation of the Jahmites, the Mu'attilah, and the atheists... with authentic narrations, Salafi principles, clear rules, and rational reasoning. It contains benefits and gems, and what is correct. It completes the doctrines in a way that is not found in any other book.

Al-Kafiya al-Shafiyyah fi al-Intisar li al-Firqat al-Najiya, or Ibn al-Qayyim's Nuniyyah, or the Nuniyyah Poem, is a book on doctrine and the fundamentals of religion. It addresses the fundamentals of the doctrine of the righteous predecessors, clarifying them, refuting those who oppose them, refuting their arguments, and exposing their doubts and deceptions. In his book, the author Ibn al-Qayyim left no principle of the doctrine of the predecessors without explaining it and discussing it in detail. He did not leave out any major innovation or dangerous innovator without addressing and responding to it.

The book is considered more like a comprehensive encyclopedia of the essential beliefs of the Sunnis and the community, and a refutation of their enemies, including the ignorant, the misguided, and the people of whims. Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah's method in composing his book was in the form of poetic couplets arranged in rhyme and meter. The number of verses compiled by Ibn al-Qayyim reached 5,842.

Author:

Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr ibn Ayyub ibn Sa'd al-Zar'i al-Dimashqi, Shams al-Din, Abu Abdullah, known as Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya. He was a prominent figure in Islamic religious reform in the eighth century AH. He was born in Damascus to Kurdish parents and studied under and was influenced by Ibn Taymiyyah al-Dimashqi, who was also of Kurdish parents. His profession was as an imam at al-Jawziyya, teaching at al-Sadriya and elsewhere, and issuing fatwas and writing. His connection with Ibn Taymiyyah: Historians agree that the date of the meeting was in 712 AH, the year he returned from his travels to Damascus, where he settled until his death in 751 AH.
