After three glorious eras of Islam, shirk re-emerged among Muslims. When the faith and creed of the Muslims weakened, shirk entered the ummah in the same way that shirk entered the tribe of Noah (peace be upon him) due to their weakness. Ignorant Muslims started harassing honest people and building domes, minarets, mosques etc. on their graves. Praying to the dead, calling them to meet their needs, sacrificing animals for them, making vows and all other types of worship begin. The practice of ignorance shirk began in Iyam in the entire Arabian Peninsula and surrounding areas, including Mecca and Medina. In order to purify this ummah from shirk and to revive the call of Tawheed among them by the infinite grace of Allah, He sent countless mujahids from age to age. The names of Shaykh al-Islam Imam Ibn Taymiyyah and his worthy disciple Imam Ibn al-Qayyim are particularly noteworthy in this case. They have revived the call of Tauhid among the Muslim nation through their writings. As a result of their untiring efforts, countless lost people have returned to the path of Tauhid.
