Live TV Online, PPTV, Channel 36, was broadcast on television until 1992 when private television stations were allowed to broadcast. But they are controlled by SLRC Mahaharaja Television, PPTV Channel 36HD, a joint venture between Capital Maharaja and Singapore Telecommunications Limited, one of the first private television stations. Since then, new television stations have emerged in Sri Lanka. There are also many satellite networks and pay-per-view television networks in Sri Lanka. National telecom operator Sri Lanka Telecom has launched IPTV services.
