The game is the same as the previous Three Kingdoms game in that the whole country is unified. The difference is that its time (it should be said to be the age) is instantaneous, which means that it is not turn-based, and time is calculated in months. The focus of the game is war rather than internal affairs. Players can go to the front line, kill the enemy on the battlefield, or plan tactics.

The game started with the Yellow Turban Uprising in 185 AD and Sima Yan unified the country in 280 AD. During this period, players can enter from five different periods and choose their favorite monarch to unify the country. These five periods are: "Yellow Turban Rebellion", "Cracking against Dong Zhuo", "Separation of Heroes", "Chibi War" and "Three Kingdoms". In the states of the monarchs in these five periods, the cities and generals commanded by them are basically in line with the actual historical situation, thus increasing the realism and interest of the game.
