The Rosary, which began with the experience of Our Lady, is the most wonderful contemplative prayer. Without this contemplative dimension, the Rosary loses its meaning. Pope Paul VI made this clear. “The rosary without contemplation becomes like a body without a soul, and runs the risk of repeating only the prayer. Therefore, when you pray, do not repeat empty words like the Gentiles. They would go against the counsel of Jesus, who said, “You have to talk a lot to know that God is listening” (Mt 6:7). The Rosary, by its very nature, should be said at a serene rhyme and at a slow pace that allows for thought. Only then can those who pray with the heart and eyes of Our Lady, who was closest to the Lord, more easily meditate on the mystery of the Lord's life, and thereby reveal its immeasurable riches.”14

It may be worth dwelling for a moment on this exalted thought of Pope Paul VI, if we should reveal some aspects that better reveal the very unique nature of the Rosary as a truly Christ-centered contemplative prayer.
