Arba'in Nawawi or Al-Arba'in An-Nawawiyah is a book compiled by Al-Imam al-Allamah Abu Zakaria Muhyiddin bin Syaraf an-Nawawi ad-Dimasyqi (Imam Nawawi). This book contains 42 hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, and is a reference for scholars because it contains the main hadiths that are important and contain the basics of the Islamic religion.

This book is a favorite among students to start memorizing the Prophet's hadiths before moving on to larger books. Imam Nawawi actually chose the hadiths which are the foundation of the Islamic religion in compiling his Arba'in book.

It is hoped that the hadiths written in this book are sufficient to represent and summarize all of the Prophet's hadiths because they are the core hadiths. These hadiths are referred to by some scholars as "rubu'ut tasyri'" (a quarter of Islamic legal legislation), "rubu'ud din" (a quarter of a deen), and "tsulutsud din" (a third of a deen).

With hadiths of this nature, people who are able to memorize them are expected to feel as if they have mastered all of the Prophet's hadiths in their substantive form so that these hadiths are expected to be sufficient to become the axis of Islamic teachings in facing life.
