Sherlock Holmes is almost, always successful in decoding the mysteries. However, in one of the stories in this book, Holmes admitted to Dr Watson “I have been beaten four times—three times by men, and once by a woman. And the woman in question is Irene Adler, dubbed “The Woman” in the very first story, 'A Scandal in Bohemia'.

Besides reading for the thrill, you will get to know the London of old days, as Holmes is fond of describing his observations of the countryside and the peaceful looking pretty cottages as he travels by train (mostly) across London in search of clues. Not all the mysteries are crimes, some are more along the lines of confusions and puzzles which need clearing up.

Nothing compares to reading the original stories from the book. The adaptations in the movie or television do not give the same sensation of 'being there' at 221B Baker Street, and reading about the stories that unfold the moment a knock falls at the door.

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, was first published in 1892. It is now available for free online reading from this APP. Although written more than 100 years ago, the writing style is modern. The sentences are not ‘Victorian’. Read one story and you will understand.
