Afasia IPA

The Portuguese Institute of Aphasia created, together with the National Institute for Rehabilitation, the first mobile application of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (CAA) for People with Aphasia (PcA) in Portugal, available on mobile devices and completely free of charge.

The application was developed in Portuguese, with an aphasia-friendly design, which helps PcA in transmitting information about themselves and their communication skills, as well as facilitating their interaction with different interlocutors. The main objectives of this project are to facilitate the communication process, increase the social participation of PcA and, thus, reduce their social isolation.

Provides a customizable ID card, where callers can quickly find out what aphasia is and how they can help;

- Has a customizable and simple health card that helps them access and share

quick access to important clinical and personal information;

- Has a customizable photo/image diary that you can use as

communicative support in a face-to-face conversation;

- Includes communicative resources and information in aphasia-friendly format.
