The book of Amos is one of the books that make up the Old Testament.
Material prosperity, as usual, provoked the social and religious corruption of the people. The easy life was morally weakening the population of Israel, as we can read in Amos 2: 6/8 and Amos 5: 11/12. The luxury life, idolatry and moral depravity of the people, made him warn of the fatal consequences of the trial and loss of national freedom, as it turned out later.
