AquaPRIME

AquaPRIME offers you sustainable precision aquaculture, supported by technology. It enables you to instantly track the welfare of your animals: how much they grow, how well they grow, and how sustainable your farm is. AquaPRIME is designed for oyster, mussel, or clam farmers and coming soon we will be providing versions for other types of aquaculture: fish such as salmon, bass, and bream, and also for shrimp.

You can get started by registering on the app, creating your farm and following three simple steps: (A) take a sample of animals and count the live and dead animals; (B) count live animals to match a set weight—you choose the weight that makes sense; (C) top up the beaker with water to a set volume, and pour off the water into another beaker to measure the water volume.

With these simple steps AquaPRIME provides an analysis of growth rate, mortality, and condition for your stock. This is shown in various graphs showing variation in time. Big Data gives you a register of water temperature, tidal height, wind speed, and other factors that affect your animals and your business—you get all this for free when you put a couple of numbers into the app.

If you own or manage several farms, you can create separate farms on the app, and create users to enter the data. Then you’ll be able to compare performance across your farms, and figure out why some do better than others. AquaPRIME allows you to track performance through the app when you’re offsite or on the road and you can download your data as a spreadsheet and crunch your own numbers (development in progress). The more data you put in, the better you’ll understand your animals. Best of all, your animals don’t suffer or die, and after you finish measuring, they can keep right on growing—that’s animal welfare.
