1. Open AutoStart+, tap "+" and select the apps you want to auto start on boot.

2. Allow the permissions it asks for, including "Display over other apps". On a car head unit, also turn on Car Mode.

3. Restart and unlock your phone. Your apps open by themselves.

FAQ

Q. My apps do not open after a restart.

A. Android lets AutoStart+ open apps after boot only when "Display over other apps" is allowed for it. On Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo and HUAWEI phones, also allow it on the phone's "Autostart" screen; AutoStart+ takes you there.

Q. Do my apps open before I unlock the phone?

A. No. After a restart, your apps open as soon as you unlock the phone, not on the lock screen.

Q. My car head unit does not restart when I turn off the car.

A. Most Android head units go to sleep instead of restarting. Turn on Car Mode and your apps open again whenever the screen wakes after being off for 3 minutes or more. Car Mode is free.

Q. What permissions does it use, and why?

A. It detects that the device has finished starting; uses "Display over other apps", which Android requires to open apps after boot and to show the boot banner; posts a notification with the boot result; asks to be excluded from battery optimization to keep startup reliable; and, only while Car Mode is on, runs a foreground service that watches for the screen to wake.
