About Aviva

A resource to support sexual wellbeing after cancer, made for Latinas.

Sexual changes after cancer are quite common, ranging from 40-100% depending on cancer site. Latina cancer survivors have reported worse sexual function, less sexual desire, as well as greater difficulty relaxing and enjoying sex, becoming aroused and reaching orgasm compared to White non-Hispanics and African American counterparts.

Moreover, they report the greatest concern and interest in receiving support for managing sexual changes. Unfortunately, the majority of the research and support on sexual changes after cancer has focused on middle to upper-middle class, non-Hispanic White women. To date no prior sexual therapy or resources have been developed specifically for Latina cancer survivors.

Aviva is the first resource to address sexual concerns amongst Latina cancer survivors. Aviva is an app that provides information on common sexual changes after cancer, strategies to cope with these changes and how to improve communication to improve your relationship.

The Aviva research project is testing how Aviva can support Latinas cope with sexual changes after cancer. Our team of researchers, clinicians and community partners are grateful to all the Latina participants of the Aviva project for their input and feedback on using Aviva.

We hope you enjoy Aviva!
