What is Left Hungarian?

We are a committed left-wing opinion blog. All content displayed on our site is intended solely to express an individual opinion. Because there are fewer and fewer pages on which we leftists can voice our opinion.

It is indisputable that the press is an important institution of controversial democracies. Thus, the intellectual press reinforces the criticism of the public, while the ideological press conveys the position of a political force.

It is important to note, however, that due to the nature of the advertising market, this type of publicity can invade both private and governmental interests, thus making the press manipulative.

The most important article in the press is news. With the monopolisation of news services, for example, in Hungary, MTI and smaller editorial boards can only work from the news they receive.

While in the past the press has only intensified the critical attitudes of individuals, since then this trend has been reversed, and publicists are using the media to shape public opinion.

Mass communication is fundamentally changing the advertising business. Alongside the news, the goal is to encourage consumption. According to David Riesman, the essence of mass media is educating consumers.

There is the phenomenon that marketing activity does not appear directly in the form of advertising, but rather in the public interest. Thus, besides political interests, the purely economic interests appear in shaping public opinion, and since the classic press, whether print or audio-visual, is shaped by its monopoly, the above considerations apply.

The central task, therefore, is to build consensus over information. Thus, the public becomes feudal.

Political publicity, increasingly separated from its own institutional system, is increasingly appearing in the press. In this way, the press becomes a branch of power.

Due to the above, the requirements for balance may not always be created.

That is why we are critical of the press products and this practice, or we might want to say "big press lies".

So the Hungarian Left strives to serve all members of society equally, but does not strive for balance.
