Bnadra Jamaat
130 years ago, when Bandra was a small suburban town of Anglo-Indian community, the Dawoodi Bohras adopted Bandra as their home-town, by Benediction and Dua of our Duat. This is indeed a fascinating story, and need recording fot the coming generations. The first Bohra to arrive and settle here was Rehmanji Valiji who came from Jetpur (Saurashtra) and was employed by a Khoja gentlemen, at 165, Sanitary House, Hill Road, Bandra, Mumbai. At that time Bandra had no electricity,no water and no drainage system. Impressed by the honesty of Rehmanji, the Khoja gentleman, who had no children, Adopted Rehmanji as his son. After his death, Rehmanji started his own small business of hardware and called his brothers-in-law Jeewaji Mohammedally and Moosaji Mohammedally from Kotdapitha to assist him. The business flourished, and Rehmanji’s son, Abdulally, established a shop in the same building as M/s A. Abdulally & Co. and Fidally Rajabally which are even a today a leading business establishment of hardware.
