Biomedical engineers must have a solid knowledge of all the relevant engineering
Biomedical Engineering is a multi-disciplinary field and cannot be classified as one specialty as there are no special biomedical engineering degrees confining the field. Over the past decade, biomedical engineering has grown at a rapid pace, soaring from around 20% of academic institutions instituting new programs just a few years ago to over 40%. Nowadays the term “biomedical engineering” applies to a broad engineering field that includes all studies of biomedical applications ABET defines Biomedical Engineering as an engineering discipline that integrates the technology of medicine, life sciences, and clinical practice with the principles and methods of engineering.
