The 80s and 90s of the 20th century were the prevailing period of the police football teams, when these teams achieved many great achievements. In 1989, for example, there were 6 police football teams present in the National A1 tournament. In the early 2000s, when the football industry gradually turned to a professional mechanism, like the teams of other traditional industries and fields, the police teams gradually narrowed and then changed their name. For example, the Hanoi Police Department (CAHN) was transferred to Vietnam Airlines. Hai Phong Police was transferred to Viet Uc Hai Phong Steel, Ho Chi Minh City Police was transferred to Dong A Bank.
But then police football also resurrected. On April 7, 2008, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Khanh Toan - Permanent Deputy Minister of Public Security decided to establish the People's Public Security football team. The force of the new police team was built on the basis of gathering many former players of the previous local police football teams: Minh Hieu, Thanh Chau, Quoc Khanh, Trung Phong, Tuan Thanh, Viet Cuong. , Anh Dung, Thanh Son (CAHN), Thien Quang, Tuan Hai (CA. HCMC), Truong Giang, Quang Dieu, Quang Hop, Manh Ha, Tuan Diep (CAHP). The CAND football team participated in the first season in the 2008 National Third Division. In the 2009 season, the team bought back a slot in the Second Division of Military Region 7. In the 2011 Second Division, the team did not perform well and had to be relegated. However, because they bought Ha Tinh's place, they still participated in the 2012 Second Division.
In the 2014 Second Division, the team won and won promotion to the 2015 First Division. But at the end of that season, the team finished at the bottom of the standings and had to return to the 2016 Second Division.
After 2 years of absence, CAND returned to compete in the 2018 First Division. However, the team did not perform well, in the last match the team only drew the opponent to win the play-off position, TMS Binh Dinh with the score 1. -1 due to 3 points behind the team ranked above and had to be relegated to the 2019 Second Division. In the 2019 season, despite being one of the highly-rated teams for promotion, the team only ranked 3rd in the table. A and did not win a place in the promotion final round.
In 2020, the Ministry of Public Security will promote the development of the "Project to develop the People's Public Security Football Club in a professional direction"; publicize the Decision of the Ministry of Public Security stipulating the position, functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Police Football Club; announced the Decision to appoint the President, Vice President of CAND Football Club. Accordingly, Major General Le Van, a member of the Thematic Research Committee assisting the Minister, holds the position of Chairman of the CAND Football Club; Colonel Phan Vu Minh, Deputy Director of the Party and Political Work Department of the People's Police, holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Police Football Club.
In the Second Class of 2020, CAND won the first place in Group B in the group stage, but lost to Phu Tho and Gia Dinh in the competition for tickets to the First Prize. Luckily for them, Gia Dinh asked not to be promoted to First place, and the CAND automatically won a place to attend the 2021 First Division. 2020 is also the year that sees a strong return of Police football on the national youth teams. when 4 players of the team were called up to the Vietnam U-19 team to attend the AFC U-19 Championship. At the end of November 2022, after winning the V.League 2 2022 and winning the right to be promoted to V.League 1 2023, the club was transferred by the Ministry of Public Security to the Hanoi City Police and renamed as Police Ha.
