Calculate winding for dc-dc power source transformers Push Pull topology
If you are a maker, an electronics enthusiast, who makes transformers for dc-dc converters, but have trouble knowing how many turns to make.
This application can help you to calculate transformers for these converters, especially those used in Push-Pull topology with EE ferrite core.
Provide the application with four (4) pieces of information:
Inform how many turns you want to build in the primary, the output voltage, the nominal input voltage that will work (Ex.: 12 Volts from a battery). And not least, the maximum duty cycle (Dmax - Maximum Duty Cycle) provided by the PWM control integrated circuit, which can be verified in the component's datasheet. With that, just click on calculate, and the application will provide the number of turns for the secondary. The calculation is based on the SG3525 integrated circuit, but nothing prevents the use of similar ones with similar functionality.
Remember, the performance of the built transformer may not be as expected, if this happens, try decreasing the number of turns of the primary and redo the calculation.
Tip: when building the transformer, prefer to use several conductors per winding instead of a single conductor, in addition to improving the efficiency of the circuit, it is easier to wind.
