Camera Reader

"Camera Reader" is a simple accessibility app designed for people with visual impairment or reduced vision. The app will scan any text document using the camera (front or rear), this text is then be displayed on screen and read out, with each word highlighted as read. The text scanned into the app can be zoomed in/out.

This app can also be used as an aid to learning to read because the text is highlighted as the words are read out. Kids can read along with the app and improve their reading abilities.

Screen Overview:-

A very simple screen with a large text area at the top, a small ad banner at the bottom and two high visibility buttons at the very bottom.

On the left hand side at the bottom is a camera toggle button (Toggle between Front or Rear) and the right hand side is a SCAN button.

Basic usage:-

1. Click SCAN and the screen will change to the view through the selected camera (rear camera is the default)

2. Try to line up your page/text in this view and when you are ready just tap the screen.

3. Listen to the text being read out / follow along with the words being highlighted as they are read out.

If you want to stop the app from reading the words out, just tap the screen again in the text area.

You can also zoom in/out using pinch gesture.
