Campfire: Songbook & Metronome

Campfire is a songbook for the songs you play: your lyrics and chords, laid out to be read while your hands are busy with an instrument, with a metronome that knows the tempo of every song and a tuner for the minute before it starts.

Chords sit right above the syllables they belong to, and a song flows into as many columns as the screen has room for, so you turn as few pages as possible.

Campfire doesn't come with songs of its own. It is a home for yours. Write them in the built-in editor, or bring the ones you already have: text files, PDFs, Word documents, ChordPro files, whole zip archives, even another songbook app's backup.

Reading

• Turn the page with a tap, a key, or a Bluetooth page-turner pedal, and reach every line with Up and Down alone

• Long songs fit on fewer pages, and short ones fill the screen in centered columns

• Adjustable text size, sections you can fold, and cover art and links to recordings with every song

• Switch the chords off for the people in the room who only sing

• Read only mode keeps a stray tap from changing a song mid-set

Chords

• Chord diagrams for guitar, ukulele, or keyboard at the top of every song, in the shapes you actually play

• Transpose and set the capo, and Campfire names the key the band hears

• Read chords in standard, German (H), or Latin (Do Re Mi) notation, as Nashville numbers, or as Roman numerals

Tuner

• Tune a guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, mandolin, or banjo string by string, or any instrument chromatically

• Play reference tones to tune by ear, and open it over the song you are about to play

• It listens only while it is on screen, and keeps nothing it hears

Metronome

• Every song keeps its own tempo, time signature, and accents, and follows the tempo changes written into it

• Tap tempo, accents, subdivisions, and five sounds: click, woodblock, beep, hi-hat, and cowbell

• A flash on every beat, and it keeps clicking with the screen locked

Setlists

• Put songs in order and play through the whole set without stopping, the tempo changing on the next bar

• Every setlist remembers its own key, capo, and tempo for each song

• Give the gig a date, see a countdown to it, and the set's total running time

• Archive a setlist after the gig instead of deleting it

Organizing

• Search by title, artist, or tag, with the closest matches first

• Select several songs at once to add them to setlists, tag them, set their languages, or export them in one go

• Tags and languages that travel inside the song files, and one of 14 colors for every tag

Writing and editing

• ChordPro editor with syntax highlighting, mistakes marked as you type, a live preview, and one-tap formatting

Import, export, and sync

• Import ChordPro, plain text, PDF, and Word files, or whole zip archives. Chords written above the lyrics become real chords you can transpose

• Export songs or a setlist as a print-ready PDF with your paper size, columns, and options

• Share songs and setlists with other Campfire users, or back up the whole library as a zip

• Optional sync through your own Dropbox, automatic after every change

Make it yours

• Light and dark themes, a sepia slider that warms the background, and ten color schemes, or your wallpaper's own colors

• The app icon follows the color you choose

• Switch off the metronome, tuner, setlists, chords, or cover art you never use

• English and Hungarian, switchable inside the app

Your songs are yours

Your library is a folder of ordinary ChordPro text files on your device. Campfire works offline, needs no account, and collects no data: no analytics, no tracking, and no ads. It only goes online to sync with your own Dropbox, with no server in between, and to fetch the cover images you choose. You can export everything at any time.
