Canto Do Jaó Preta 24 Horas - Its scientific name means: do (Greek) kruptus = hidden, hidden; and oura = tail; crypturellus = short for crypturus; and from (Latin) undulatus = with waves, wavy, wave. ⇒ Small wavy or small Crypturus (bird) with waves and hidden tail. Inhabits the lowland and gallery forest, capoeira, dry and sparse forests and savannah. They also live in fields and forests across South America. Although they can fly, they lack the bony keel of the breastbone that allows continuous flight. All tynamids use their wings as a last resort to escape, making a short flight, interspersed with glides in grassland species.
