The Capitol TV is the media outlet for Rhode Island’s General Assembly.
The Capitol Television department is the media outlet for Rhode Island’s General Assembly. Often compared to CSPAN, Capitol TV’s mission is to offer transparency in government by airing, on television and live streaming on the internet, gavel-to-gavel video coverage of the House and Senate sessions, Committee meetings as well as special hearings and news conferences hosted by legislators. All recordings, both video and audio, are then available “on demand” on the State’s website. (http://www.rilegislature.gov). In addition to covering events, hearings and legislative sessions, Capitol Television produces programs on legislative subjects and issues thus educating the public on the actions of the Legislature. These programs include “Legislative Insight”, “Open House with the Speaker”, “Capitol Spotlight” and “Capitol TV Originals”. Capitol Television cablecasts can be seen on the government Rhode Island Statewide Interconnect channel C, which is Channels 15 and 61 (for high definition) on Cox Communications; Channel 15 on i3Broadband (Formerly Full Channel) and on Channel 34 on Verizon.
