The Chrysler Building is an Art deco skyscraper in New York City. Located in the Turtle Bay area on the east side of Manhattan, the building rises from the intersection of 42nd Street and Lexington Street. With a height of 319 meters, the skyscraper was the tallest building in the world until the Empire State Building, which was completed 11 months after its opening, surpassed it. The Chrysler Building, which became the third tallest building in New York with the Construction of the World Trade Center in 1973, became the second tallest building in the city again after the World Trade Center was destroyed during the September 11 attacks. With the addition of its antenna to the Bank of America Tower in December 2007, it rose to 365.8 meters, making Chrysler again the third tallest building in the city. Although part of this skyscraper was used as the offices of Chrysler Corporation from 1930 until the mid-1950s, the company had no role in constructing the building. Walter P. Chrysler personally covered all the construction costs and intended to leave this building to his children.

With the added antenna, the Chrysler Building became the tallest building in the world, surpassing the 40 Wall Street Buildings upon the construction on May 28, 1930; The Eiffel Tower also retained the title of the World's Most Building. On May 27, 1931, a year after the skyscraper opened, the Chrysler Building broke the height record when the Empire State Building was completed, but Chrysler is still the world's tallest brick building with a steel structural system. The Chrysler Building is considered one of the most important examples of Art deco architecture.
