Cocais FM 89.5

Cocais FM is a Brazilian radio station based in Teresina, capital of the state of Piauí. Operates on the FM dial, on the frequency 89.5 MHz. It belongs to Grupo Meio Norte de Comunicação, with its programming geared towards the contemporary adult genre.

The Cocais FM concession comes from the now defunct Rádio Poty, founded in 1982 by journalist Hélder Feitosa, who also maintained the newspaper O Estado (now Middle North) and Poty FM (now Boa FM), launched in 1985. Feitosa was murdered in 1987, and after a series of financial difficulties, his family sold the vehicles to businessman Paulo Guimarães in 1994, being one of the embryos of formation of the current Grupo Meio Norte de Comunicação. At that time, Radio Poty had already stopped broadcasting since 1992, but its concession had been renewed a year earlier, and it also passed into the hands of the group.

Almost 25 years later, the group reactivates the broadcaster on January 3, 2017 based on the federal decree on the migration of AM radio to FM, through the FM 89.5 MHz dial, as it had already done with the concession of the extinct Rádio Meio Norte Timon, Maranhão, for the creation of Rádio Jornal Meio Norte. Then, on an experimental basis, Cocais FM appears, with musical programming in a contemporary adult profile. [1]

On April 23, 2018, around 7 am, the broadcaster launches its definitive program, debuting the First Class program (with errors in the sound operation and problems in the transmission). According to the group's radio coordinator, Cildo Carvalho, the station will feature digital optical fiber, being the first FM in the region to use the technology, in addition to bringing exclusive reinterpretations of successful songs. It also states that the presence of two announcers, Idria Portela and Izandra Rangel, is a form of homage that Cocais paid to the female audience, which represents the majority of the audience.
