The collared bird is considered the most sociable bird in the Brazilian fauna. It loves to be taken for a walk by its owner and is usually the first bird every birder, as a child, has had. On the other hand, it is considered one of the most difficult native birds to reproduce in captivity, as the females take time to give in to the reproductive instinct, always implying the presence of males. The collared breeder must be patient and know how to wait for the right moment to succeed in breeding.

A curious fact in the creation of collars is the intense participation of the male in the different stages of reproduction, especially in the care of the young, even fighting with the female for the right to feed them.
