CUT Brasil

The Central Workers Union (CUT) is a Brazilian trade union mass organization in maximum level of classist character, autonomous and democratic, whose commitment is to defend the immediate and historical interests of the working class.

Based on equality and solidarity principles, its objectives are to organize, represent sindicalmente and lead the struggle of the workers of town and country, public and private sector, active and inactive, for better conditions of life and work and a just and democratic society.

Present in all branches of economic activity in the country, the CUT itself as the largest union federation in Brazil, Latin America and the 5th largest in the world with 3,960 affiliated entities, 7,933,029 workers and related workers and 25,831,443 workers and workers at the base.

Since its founding, the CUT has a fundamental role in the dispute hegemony and on changes in the political, economic and social landscape along the Brazilian history, Latin American and world. The advances made in the proposal of a Democratic System of Labor Relations and the election of a worker for the presidency in 2002 are strong examples of these changes and direct results of the CUT's actions in his tireless struggle to guarantee and class rights expansion working.

The CUT defends freedom and union autonomy with the commitment and the understanding that workers have the right to decide freely on their forms of organization, membership and financial support, with complete independence from the state, governments, employers, political parties and groupings , creeds and religious institutions and any programmatic or institutional character bodies.

For Central, the struggles of the working class are supported by the drive from the will and the political consciousness of workers.
