The tournament’s history.

The tournament comes from an idea of Marco Mezzetti, the founder and organizer of the event, and a Group of friends who helped him in the organization. The Tournament is also supported by two Bologna's basketball clubs S.G. Fortitudo Basketball and Pontevecchio.

Its creation is dated back in 2003. The main purpose of the tournament is to give Serbian children the opportunity to know and live what basketball, and not only basketball, means in Bologna. Indeed, children from around Western and Eastern Europe can get closer to a different culture, history and tradition. In order to be one of the Italian teams participating in the tournament it is mandatory to be available to host one of the foreigns participants, without paying any registration fee. This is why part of the tournament name is ‘Gioca chi ospita’, which means laterally ‘Play who host’.
