Set in a dark medieval universe, the game takes place in the fictional kingdom of Boletaria, which has been engulfed by thick fog and overrun with demons due to the monarch's thirst for power, King Allant XII. The player takes control of a hero tasked with slaying demons and bringing peace to Bolétaria. This hero can be personalized and can evolve over the course of the game. But the adventure will not be easy, death being very present in Demon Soul. Indeed, the title is often considered one of the most difficult and demanding games of recent years.

Demon's Souls is an action-RPG video game exclusive to the PlayStation 3 console, developed by From Software. It is published by Sony Computer Entertainment on February 5, 2009 in Japan; by Atlus on October 7, 2009 in North America and published by Namco Bandai on June 25, 2010 in Europe.

A remake developed, with the collaboration of Japan Studio, was released in November 2020 on the occasion of the release of the PlayStation 5.
