Distance and Parallax

Distance and Parallax is an application that helps you to calculate distances using parallax.

Parallax can be easily highlighted. Keep a pencil (P) with an arm extended in front. Look forward to an object in the direction of the pen, first with the left eye (L) and then with the right eye (R). The students find that the object seems to move with the distance AB.

If the students measure the distance between the eyes and the pencil d, the distance between the eyes’ pupils LR and can approximate the distance AB then the distance from the observer to the object is calculate from the equation: D=d+(d*AB)/LR
