DPH Volunteer

This application allows NGO/VWO volunteers to log into activities using their smartphone. The volunteer's current location is used to determine the activity options presented to them. The volunteer can also use the app to update their contact details and view their attendance history.

Privacy:

Authentication: Anyone can use the App to view new stories but before a volunteer can use the app for activity logging, they must already be registed with the VWO's organisation and have a database record that includes a unique identification number and an email address. When the app is first started they will be given the option to enter their ID and email address. An authorization pin code will be sent to this email address to confirm that they are the ligitimate user. This authorization code must also be entered into the app before full functionality is enabled.

Location Information: Volunteer location information (latitude/longitude coordinates) is only used when a volunteer has ogged into an activity. While a volunteer is logged in, position information is checked at 5 minute intervals to confirm the volunteer is still in the area. If a volunteer has left an activity area, they are automatically logged out of the system. Position information is never stored, either on the handphone or on VWO's servers, nor, under any circumstances, is it used to record location information when a volunteer has logged out of the system. Location information is transmitted via a secure connection for the purpose of presenting appropriate activity options to the volunteer and checking their presence in the building.

Personal Information: Contact information and attendance record can be downloaded using this app. Contact and attendance data are not stored on the volunteer's handphone but is retrieved, when requested, from the VWO's servers. There may be a slight delay when accessing this data depending on network latency.
