Inkspine: Novel & Manga Writer

Inkspine is a local-first writing app for people building something long.

Novels, serialised fiction, comics, manga, webtoons and screenplays. One project

holds the manuscript and story bible together, so the character invented in

chapter two stays consistent in chapter ninety.

Start privately with no account. When a project needs more than one writer,

sign in with Google and share only that project with invited collaborators.

WRITE

• A fiction block editor for dialogue, monologue, narration, action, SFX, scene

headings, shot direction, time markers and author notes

• Panel and page breaks plus balloon styles for comic, manga and webtoon scripts

• Italic and bold styled while you type

• Live word, panel and block counts

• Drag to arrange chapters, scenes and every item inside a scene

• Browse and arrange chapters inside collapsible volumes

• Choose Arc, Volume, Season, Part, Cour, Episode or your own hierarchy labels

• Distraction-free focus and reading modes, with paper and dark themes

WRITE TOGETHER

• Invite editors or viewers, with owner controls for roles and access

• See who is online, where they are working and their live cursor

• An active input belongs to its current writer while the rest of the scene

remains open to everyone

• Edits queue offline and reconcile automatically on slow or restored networks

• Concurrent offline chapters are preserved, renumbered and surfaced for review

• Chapters, scenes, block details, cast, locations, terms, ideas, plot threads,

timeline events and custom fields update live

• See each block's creator and latest editor, with an avatar beside its menu

• Restore shared projects after reinstalling or moving to another device

STORY BIBLE

• Character voice fields for pronouns, verbal tics, speech register,

catchphrases and default honorifics, surfaced while that character speaks

• Aliases, codenames and abilities with costs and limits

• A pannable relationship map with directed connections

• Nested locations: rooftop › school › city › country

• Nested terminology: Infinity Store › Time Stone

• Invented terms with readings, connected to @mention autocomplete

• Plot threads for setups and payoffs, plus an ideas inbox

PLAN, SEARCH AND EXPORT

• A timeline that combines scenes with world history on a story clock

• Chapter status: outline, drafting, revised and final

• Full-text search across manuscript and story bible

• Automatic chapter snapshots you can read and restore

• Export to plain text, Markdown, Fountain, Word or EPUB

• Back up a library or one project and import it on another device

MAKE IT YOURS

Rename, recolour, reorder, retire or add character roles, relationship types,

place kinds and term categories. Add custom text, number, yes/no, choice or date

fields to characters, relationships, places, terms, chapters and plot threads.

LOCAL-FIRST. CLOUD ONLY WHEN YOU ASK.

Private projects remain on the device. A Google account is optional; only its

account profile and projects you explicitly share use cloud services. Inkspine

has no ads, analytics or generative writing: it organises the work and leaves

the prose to the writer.

Built for novelists, co-authors, comic and manga writers, webtoon creators,

screenwriters, worldbuilders, light novel authors and tabletop game masters.
