IMPORTANT: This app is aimed at experienced users who know exactly why and how to use this app, as well as developers who want to use advanced functions.

So e.g. also the possibility to use FIDO U2F or USB OTG with an external reader on a telephone, tablet, television or in the car.

ABOUT THE APP: As a further development of the BMI PersoApp, the FIDELIO app combines the classic online function of the German ID card with the FIDO U2F authentication protocol. No personal data such as name, address, date of birth are read out for FIDO authentication. Only the so-called pseudonym is requested for the derivation of the key. FIDELIO does not save any data. On Android, use with U2F-compatible websites in combination with the Chrome browser and Mozilla Firefox with the plugin https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/webauthn-eid-for-firefox/ is currently possible. FIDELIO joins the Google Authenticator with its connection to FIDO U2F NFC and BLE (Bluetooth) tokens.

The use of the new ID card with FIDO has the advantage of an integrated holder verification using eID-PIN instead of simply having the token, as well as the possibility of blocking in the event of theft and loss through the central blocking hotline 116 116.

NOTES: In a cell phone, the NFC function MUST be available AND switched on. The app cannot "conjure" NFC where there is none. It is also not possible to predict whether and which devices may have internal errors (loose contacts on the antenna such as Sony XPeria M etc., unstable and crashing NFC services in the Android operating system) - neither the app can help nor complaints with poor ratings.

You must also use your ID card, residence permit or the appropriate test cards. Please also make sure that you do not notice any disturbing metal parts such as supports underneath tables, keys, rings, aluminum foil, so-called "blocker cards", coin money, other other cards e.g. To have ec, credit and other payment cards, access and key cards, metallic stickers and mobile phone covers between or near the phone and ID. In rare cases, the NFC chip in the phone and individual ID batches (ISO 14443-A / B) are not compatible with each other. It also happens that badges are badly bent and twisted, e.g. in a back pocket, or exposure to microwave radiation and strong EM fields. An app cannot detect all of this technically beforehand, nor can it correct it, since it is a matter of hardware and not software errors. We do what is possible to cover as much as possible, but there are limits.

Passports, driver's licenses and electronic health cards are NOT SUITABLE for this.

For feedback in the non-public beta test channel, we would like to urge you to refrain from generalizing and insulting feedback. If you give feedback, describe exactly what happened at which point and check whether you are using the right card, NFC is switched on and works properly and the service you want to use is available.

It is not possible for us to know and test every telephone in this solar system in advance - and even if it is, then it is not guaranteed that it will always work as it does under laboratory conditions.
