Clube de Regatas do Flamengo (better known simply as Flamengo, and popularly by the nicknames Mengo, Mengão and Fla) is a Brazilian multi-sport association based in the city of Rio de Janeiro, capital of the state of the same name. Founded in the neighborhood of the same name for rowing disputes on November 17, 1895, it became one of the most successful and popular clubs in Brazilian sport, especially for football.
