About Floating Image
Float images over other apps with layers, gestures, and touch-through control.
Floating Image lets you place selected images above other apps as movable floating overlays. It is useful for visual reference, design comparison, drawing guides, recording, teaching, presentations, and multitasking.
You can add images from your device, move them around the screen, scale them, rotate them, adjust opacity, hide or lock them, and manage their stacking order with the Layer Editor.
Key features:
- Float images above other apps
- Move images with one-finger or two-finger drag
- Scale and rotate images with two-finger gestures
- Adjust image opacity globally or per image
- Hide or lock individual images
- Organize image layers with the Layer Editor
- Reorder layers or bring a layer to the front from the Layer Editor
- Tap a visible, uncovered part of an overlapping image to bring it to the top
- Use transparent PNG images with touch-friendly transparent areas
- Use the optional Control Dot for quick access while using other apps
- Use notification controls to open the panel, temporarily show or hide images, or show and hide the Control Dot
Free and Pro:
- Free version supports up to 2 floating images
- Pro unlocks more floating images
- Pro supports up to 9 floating images, or up to 30 with High Capacity Image Mode
- Pro unlocks Pass Through mode for locked images
- Pro unlocks one-tap angle reset
- One-time purchase, no subscription
Layer Editor:
The Layer Editor lets you manage each image separately, including visibility, lock state, opacity, deletion, angle reset, and stacking order.
Dot mode:
Dot mode is a temporary overall show/hide or lock/unlock mode. It does not change each image visibility or lock state in the Layer Editor.
Individual layer visibility can be edited when Dot display mode follows Layer Editor visibility. Layer locks can be edited when Dot lock mode follows Layer Editor locks.
The notification buttons for temporarily hiding or showing all images only change image visibility through Dot mode. Use Show Dot or Hide Dot for the Control Dot itself.
Touch behavior:
When images overlap, tap any visible, uncovered part of an image to bring that image to the top. Areas not covered by the actual image remain usable in the app underneath, including transparent parts of PNG images.
If an image is locked and the lock mode is Pass Through, the app underneath can also be used through the covered image area.
Image limits and performance:
Free users can use up to 2 floating images. Pro users can use up to 9 images by default, or up to 30 with High Capacity Image Mode. The app keeps a hard safety limit because more floating images use more memory and overlay windows.
Supported images:
- PNG
- JPG/JPEG
- WebP
- Transparent PNG images
- Large images are automatically resized before being used as floating overlays
Important notes:
- Android limits touch-safe floating windows to 79% opacity. This is why Floating Image opacity controls stop at 79%.
- If locked images overlap in Pro Pass Through mode, the app may automatically lower overlapping layer opacity to avoid Android blocked-touch warnings.
- Some apps or screens may block overlays for security, such as banking apps or system permission screens.
- On some vivo/OriginOS devices, the Control Dot may need the main app to stay in the background.
Privacy:
Floating Image stores selected images locally on your device. Images are not uploaded to any developer server.
Permissions:
- Display over other apps: required to show floating image overlays above other apps
- Notifications: optional control notification for quick access to overlay controls
- Battery settings: optional, but may help Android keep the overlay available more reliably in the background
Floating overlays can be closed at any time.
