Agriculture is a key engine alongside health and education that has the power to propel country towards reaching prosperity. The agriculture sector relies on cadre of specialists who play key roles in transfer of technology. In Telangana state these specialists include scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and District Agriculture Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centre (DAATTC) working through Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) and Field Extension Officers employed by Agriculture and Allied departments in the state.

The KVK and DAATTC scientists are typically assigned villages to conduct a series of On Farm Testing’s (OFTs) And Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) in farmers’ fields in Kharif and Rabi seasons every year apart from respective mandated activities. Occupying onerous incumbency with vested responsibility the KVK and DAATTC scientists are excelling in the field work which unfortunately is going unrecognised and unnoticed with improper documentation depending on traditional documentation methods.

Therefore, for the first time PJTSAU embarked an initiative to have a look at how digital tools and technologies have been and could be used to help overcome the present challenges the Field Extension in agriculture is facing in this digital era of communication and documentation and introduced the app “Field Trial Management System”(FTMS). This FTMS App will definitely help elevating the scientists professionalism and adds to their candidature
