Holy Bible Darby Translation

The Bible from the translation of J.N. Darby (formal title: The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation Taken From the Original Languages by J.N. Darby) refers to the Bible as translated from the Hebrew and Greek by John Nelson Darby. The English version was first published in 1890.

In the Old Testament Darby translates the Tetragrammaton or name of God as "Jehovah" instead of using "LORD" or "GOD" (all capitals) as in most English translations.

In his introduction to the German version of 1890, he wrote: "In the edition of this translation, the purpose is not to offer an academic work to the learned man, but to provide as accurate a translation as possible to the simple uneducated reader."
