iLEU

iLEU (immaterial Local Environmental Utility) is a reward system adopted by the Municipality of Baia Mare in support of the local circular economy and mainly eco-entrepreneurship. It can be used as an exchange system, with a fixed value of 1 LEU, and is to be integrated with many other local initiatives (participatory budgeting, crowdfunding, SPIRE HUB, etc.). iLEU supports the local value system of the SPIRE project through the reward strategy adopted - rewarding land reuse, volunteering, cleaning polluted areas, increasing the thermal efficiency of buildings, developing eco-entrepreneurship initiatives, intelligent reuse of raw materials, etc. iLEU is based on blockchain technology and allows payments to be made between any type of acceptors (individuals, legal entities and public administration).

iLEU cannot be converted into real currency or other electronic currencies or cryptocurrencies. It can be used exclusively for the payment of taxes, goods and services within the Municipality of Baia Mare and the Metropolitan Area of ​​Baia Mare.

iLEU belongs to Baia Mare City Hall, the only one that can change the rules of use or issue iLEU.

iLEU is developed and funded under the SPIRE project, funded by the European Commission through the Urban Innovative Actions mechanism.
