IS Daily Log

The IS Daily Log app is for you to keep track of your independent study activities every day.

If you want to add one daily log, hit the button "ADD RECORD". Another screen will show up and you need enter the date, the starting time, the ending time, and your brief activity description on the screen. Afterwards, you press the button “OK” to store it in your smart phone.

If you want to delete a recorded activity, hit the button "DELETE RECORD". Another screen will show up for you to specify the date you want to delete. Then, hit the button “OK” to delete.

You can view all stored daily logs by hitting the button “RETRIEVE RECORDS” and the records will be display one by one in a different screen in a table format and is easy to view.

You can also email the daily logs to yourself by hitting the button “Email All Records”. All the daily logs will be in your email body. The program will also calculate your daily activity duration automatically and add the duration as one additional output field. The total hours of the duration is also calculated and listed as the last line of the email body.

The email body has the logs in the standard comma-separated values (CSV) format. After you get the email, you can cut and paste the email body to a file and process the file by the spreadsheet (by google or by Microsoft). For example, you can split them into multiple columns by the delimiter comma ‘,’ if you pass the email body to the spreadsheet. In Microsoft spreadsheet, you can do this by choose Data-->Text To Columns, chose Delimited, hit Next, and check-mark comma as one delimiter, and then finish. Once you convert into multiple columns, you can also sort the data by the date field so the records is listed from the earliest date to the latest date. You can then cut and paste into a table of any file for recording purpose as well as submission to your school or institution. See the screenshots on how to do this.
