The companions of the Prophet, from the word shahabah (ash-shahaabah) are those who knew and saw directly the Prophet Muhammad SAW, helped his struggle and died in a state of Islam.

Most Muslims define the Companions as those who knew the Prophet Muhammad, believed in his teachings, and died in a state of Islam. The main companions who are usually mentioned up to 50 to 60 names, namely those who are very close to the Prophet Muhammad. Companions are also called disciples of the Prophet Muhammad.

Identification of the companions of the Prophet, including their status and rank, is important in the Islamic world because it can be used to evaluate the validity of a hadith or the actions of the Prophet narrated by them.
