The book or heirloom in Arabic is called attirkah, the legacy of the dead, namely property and rights left by the dead to be distributed to those entitled to receive it (heirs).

The science of faro'idh or better known as the science of mawaris, is the science that discusses the distribution of heirloom assets or the knowledge that explains heirloom cases.

The purpose of mawaris science is to save the property of the dead in order to avoid taking the property of people who do not have the right to receive it and so that people do not eat other people's property and orphans' property in an illegal way.

This is what Allah means. in his words:

"And some of you do not eat the wealth of some of you in an evil way." (Al-Baqarah [2]: 188).
