Accessibility Service Usage

Kubo uses Android AccessibilityService API to enable core parental control features such as app blocking, game blocking, screen time enforcement, child lock, and preventing children from accessing restricted apps or device settings.

AccessibilityService allows Kubo to detect which app is currently in use and apply parental control rules configured by the parent.

To enforce app rules and screen time in real time, Kubo uses AccessibilityService to detect when the foreground app changes, apply allowed-app rules, and return the device to the launcher when a blocked app is opened or a time limit is reached.

VPN Service Usage

Kubo uses Android VpnService to provide network filter and website filter features on the child device.

VpnService helps Kubo filter web domains in supported browsers for safety categories and custom blocked sites configured by the parent or guardian.

With parent or guardian consent, Kubo may send app usage, current foreground app, network filter activity, and location updates to the parent account so parents can view activity and manage rules.
