Catalonia is not a republic, pear Republican Catalonia exists. It is an objective reality from 1 October 2017, when more than two million people bet legally by a new political status for the country ratified a will and no shade so llegalitat • majority at the polls imposed by Spain on 21 December.

The Catalonia republicanana is a commitment of political organization but, above all, is the result of a mentality and a cultural and civic tradition that has in the popular will, the free expression of ideas and their peaceful coexistence pillars essential. And of course, the rejection of a monarchy which is not only anachronistic institution by definition, but today Catalonia represents and defends the exact opposite of the precepts Republicans.

It is in this ideological atmosphere born Republic. A weekly meeting for republican standard. A tool for debate on a country under construction. A publication that aims to strengthen the standardization of Catalonia and policy framework and build sovereignty media spaces.

The Republic is a weekly newspaper that discusses the new country, putting special emphasis on the current political situation. But it also assumes the functions of Sunday or Weekend Journal, without giving up both other content related disciplines that have to do with culture, science, leisure and entertainment. A magazine normal for a normal republic.
